There’s this thing called the Pain Gate Control Theory. It’s based on the premise that an area of the spinal cord acts as a “gate,” which controls the flow of sensory messages to the brain. Basically, it’s all about flooding the brain with positive stimuli taken in through all the five senses in order to block pain messages from getting to the brain.
